New Book Inspires Dieters-
Adds Inspiration to
Any Weight Loss Program

UNITY VILLAGE, Mo. — As if diets weren’t already the hottest topic going, the new year will undoubtedly prompt more people to resolve to lose weight. Now there is a weight-loss book that will help dieters keep their resolutions, whether they are following the regimen of Weight Watchers, South Beach, or Atkins.

It’s not a magical diet aid, but a powerful, inspirational book called "Daily Word for Weight Loss." "It helps dieters tap into what they need for success but may have forgotten they already have - inner strength," said Peggy Pifer, a contributor to the book. Pifer of Lee’s Summit, Mo, shares her story of losing 35 pounds.

Another contributor to the book, Candi Foster of Raytown, Mo., would agree. Foster, who lost 100 pounds and continues her weight-loss quest, comments "I wanted to share my story to help other dieters learn what I’ve learned: Diets come and go, but God is constant."

The book is modeled after Daily Word , the monthly magazine of the Silent Unity prayer ministry that offers daily inspirational messages to more than 1 million

subscribers around the world. "Daily Word for Weight Loss" incorporates the same

time-honored style of the magazine by offering short, daily affirmative prayers. The contents of this book are specially designed to be powerful tools for both weight loss and weight management.

"You can open the book to any page and find inspiration," said Pifer. "There are so many good points in manageable little capsules."

That’s the idea, said coauthor Colleen Zuck. "In writing the book, we wanted to offer inspiration in bite-sized pieces. The idea was to allow dieters to easily refer to the book first thing in the morning, before meals, or when that late-night craving kicks in. Think of it as food for the soul - and you wouldn’t think of not eating three times a day, would you?"

Affirmative prayer worked so well in Zuck’s own weight-loss program that it took even her by surprise. "I went on a seven-day cruise and, as we all know, cruises are all about food. At the end of the seven days, I had gained only one pound. She has maintained a 57-pound weight loss for over three years.

"It has been a real awakening for me," she said.

And that, said coauthor Elaine Meyer, is the goal. "We want to awaken people to the simple truth that the answer is within," said Meyer. "We just help people find what is already there."

In addition to spiritual guidance, the book offers a triple-powered approach of body, mind and spirit from health and fitness expert Dr. Susan Smith Jones. "Daily Word for Weight Loss" also includes pages for journaling, an important aspect of any weight-loss program, and testimonial stories by dieters whose spiritual philosophies have help ed them achieve their right weight.

Foster commented, "Reading the book daily reminds me of my inner power which comes from God, and it reminds me instantly that I am not alone in this."
